We've driven past Forty Niner Restaurant countless times but finally stopped by to try it out. There's a small dirt parking lot behind the restaurant, and you go to the outside window at the front to order. Seating is available out back at covered picnic tables, or there are also some indoor tables (highchairs available) with AC! We decided to try the oriental chicken salad, fried saimin, and the fried chicken and waffles (with ube waffles)! Prices are reasonable with good portions. The food was brought to our table and delivered in takeout containers. The fried saimin was good but pretty standard. The salad was surprisingly delicious, brimming with yummy toppings and a flavorful dressing. The fried chicken and waffles were the star for me! The ube waffles were crispy and well-flavored, and the chicken was boneless and very tasty! We will be back next time we are in Aiea!

Angelica & crew were absolutely amazing! I took my visiting niece for lunch this past weekend. She loved the garlic chicken plate (she's a very picky eater). My wife had the Adobo Fried Rice. Another big hit. I ordered the Forty Niner Loco Moco. I actually sent my plate back because the hamburger patty was under cooked. I told them to just throw the patty back on the grill for a little bit and all good. However, they went and made me an entirely new plate. It was sooooo ONO! I will definitely be recommending this place to my hotel guests even more now. Local food done right. I love the old school tables/booths too. Gotta give one more shout out to the Staff ... MAHALO !!!

You order at the front of the restaurant, then find seating at the outdoor patio or indoor dining area. From where you order, you have to go around the building and come from the back to get to the seating. Parking is pretty limited in the back and there's some street parking. This restaurant is an older, local spot. It's a hole-in-the-wall. The building itself is older and it's definitely seen better days. It's not the cleanest of spaces or most updated either. The table we sat at was a little sticky and so were a lot of the benches outside. The food, though, is pretty good. I ordered the "Big Boy's Breakfast." I had eggs over easy, fried rice, spam, Vienna sausage, and Portuguese sausage. Everything was cooked well but I wish I would have had a bit more Portuguese sausage and spam slices. The price though is really reasonable compared to other breakfast spots on the island. Service was good. The person taking our order was nice and the food came out at a reasonable time. There was relatively no wait when we came (weekday morning). So, if aesthetic isn't necessarily a priority to your dining experience, this could be the place for you!

This has been on my list to try and I was blown away. They had good reviews so I've been curious and the food did not disappoint. It's no wonder they always have a long line outside. Service was excellent from the ladies taking our order and serving our food. They have you order and pay your food upfront and then they serve it to you afterwards. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We went at 9am on a Sunday and the line started to get long around 9:15ish. Get the macadamia nut pancakes, you won't regret it. It was so tasty and was surprised by the banana bits tucked in between the pancakes. I got da original loco moco and it was the best loco moco I've had and will continue to think about it until the next time I return. The taro french toast was also delicious and a must try. The chorizo hash was okay.

The outside, decor and the fact that the front door seems locked didn't fool me... this place is low-key amazing... I landed and was looking for some braised pork or something substantial. The Hawaiian Plate caught my eye and it did not disappoint. The pork with the greens cooked in the green banana (?) leaves was outstanding. Really good flavors. The person taking orders through a window at first seemed like she'd be standoff-ish, but she was very welcoming and accommodating. The inside decor seems a bit tired... but the food... the flavors make up for it. My spouse got the bento plate and the fried chicken was very tasty! Will likely go back while here...

Local hot spot to grab yummy breakfast or lunch. Right now they only offer outdoor seating or you can take it home. But it is a cute little spot to eat under a grant mango tree. Service was kind, food came out hot and fast. The corn beef hash was freshly made and so good, the awesome sauce was truly delicious. The special guava, sweet Hawaiian bread, French toast was so good and moist. Lemon ricotta pancakes were fluffy and fresh, I didn't really like the lemon extract flavor it had but the fresh fruit was really good. We will be going back for more.

Found on the corner with a small parking lot. Got the forty niner bento and would definitely get it again! $14.95 and all worth it. It came with Garlic chicken, Teri beef, spam and rice. I asked for fried rice and they were able to do it. Also ordered a side of the mac salad which was so good! It had pasta noodles in it which was my first time seeing and I loved it. Seats inside and outside.

Forty-Niner has been around since 1947, and as someone who grew up in Hawaii, I've driven past it countless times but never stopped--until today. I'm so glad I finally did! I tried the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the Vegetable Omelette, and both were amazing. The pancakes were super light with a subtle, refreshing lemon flavor that wasn't overly sweet. They were topped with fresh berries, honey, and whipped cream--no syrup needed at all! The Vegetable Omelette was just as satisfying. Made with three eggs and packed with grilled onions, green onions, tomatoes, and shiitake mushrooms, it was a perfect, hearty option. The two scoops of rice on the side were a great touch and made the meal even more filling. The ordering process is straightforward--you walk up to the outside counter, place your order, and find seating in the back. The service was top-notch, and the staff was friendly and attentive. This place is unassuming but totally worth the visit. If you're in Aiea, do yourself a favor and check out Forty-Niner!
